With Bare Hands

With Bare Hands
(Nightmare Records - 2011)

Brazilian outfit Mindflow present their 4th album With Bare Hands and thanks to Lance King and Nightmare Records more metal fans get the chance to listen to this album.
The kick off with Break Me Out, a modern rocker with a catchy vocal line and some unusual guitar passages. More metal is Reset The Future which combines a heavy groove with progressive elements and soaring vocals. Breakthrough begins slowly with keyboard and vocals... Almost like a different band, but Mindflow manage to drag the listener in every melodic journey they offer. Breakthrough is a melodic rock tune, but their progressive influences show through.

They take you on a roller coaster ride with Walking Tall, this track kinda combines the heavy and the melodic side of Mindflow. Perhaps the best way to get an idea of Mindflow... The quartet add some power metal-like riffs to the title track With Bare Hands which also shows singer Danilo Herbert a bit differently. The song includes some distorted vocals and even crossover elements - all melt into one infectious tune. Shuffle Up And Deal is a heavy, riff-based prog metal tune which again is crowned by the excellent vocal performance of Danilo Herbert. But without the great performance of his mates he wouldn't be able to shine like he does. Instinct is another heavy, modern metal track... A catchy, light version of groove metal, I know that sounds like a contradiction, but listen to it! You'll also find progressive elements embedded in this heavy one as well as some growls. The closer Fragile State Of Peace starts with keyboard and needs time to develop. Whispered words, EBM-beats and heavy riffs are melted together, then a break and a slow melodic passage where Herbert's vocals are demanding your attention.
The Brazilians combine different sounds and so you need to be open-minded when you listen to Mindflow. But if you give them a chance they will enchant you! Kudos!
