Never heard of this band? Well, perhaps you have heard about Pentagram. If this name rings a bell, I don't have to tell much about them. Okay, Mezarkabul was Pentagram, the Turkish quintet. Musically the band of singer Murat sticks to their musical past. They combining again powerful metal with elements of oriental music. Some of you might remember Anatolia their 1997 release, a year later they did a live album and now they are back!
Unspoken will probably make them more known in the metal scene outside Turkey, coz in their home country they are stars! In my opinion the Turkish quintet has the talent to make it big, to make it to the premier league of power metal. Fans of Iced Earth, Nevermore, Cage, Brainstorm, check them out!
Try: Lion In A Cage, Unspoken and / or In Esir Like An Eagle.

This is really strange! Just one day after the terroristic attacks at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington and the airliner which crashed in to a field near Shankesville, Pennsylvania which were driven by the religious fanatics in the name of Allah, I got the CD of the Turkish band Mezarkabul. The band is better known as Pentagram, coz they released 4 CDs since 1990 under this name. Anyway, the tragically happenings have nothing to do with this release, but there is still a strange felling.... Btw, the album is called Unspoken.
Most songs are mid-tempo track. It's melodic power metal with some oriental elements and partly very harmonic vocal parts. An interesting album, even if I have problems when they change from melodic harmonies to progressive, complex structures. This album is for fans of Dream Theater, Rush and old Fates Warning, but who want some power, too. The band remind me of the Swedish band Veni Domeni... Anyone remembers them?
Anyway, it seems that the Turkish can do high class metal, at least Mezarkabul are a real surprise!
