Passenger

Passenger
(AFM Records - 2011)

A Life [Divided] present the album Passenger and it starts with the single Heart On Fire. The single was released a few weeks ago and all 3 songs made it onto the album. Forever is a slightly melancholy tune, but still offers a lot electro sounds and is peppered up with a dash Linkin Park. Nice one. Two more before they present Hey You, one of the single tracks, and it's one of the stronger tracks on Passenger. Doesn't Count follows, but needs too long to build up and is a bit monotonous... Save Me is a danceable tune which is saved by the chorus. The Alphaville cover some will know from the single, Sounds Like A Melody is presented in a heavier - but still can't win me over.
The closer The End shows the band a bit different... You hear an owl, a beat and foot steps coming closer, then a door creaky door. The main theme is like a trip back in time. Personally I like it a lot and would like to hear more stuff like that, but I think for fans who love the electro rock sounds it's a bit weird...
Anyway, the strongest tunes are the two original songs from the single and Forever. If you love bands like Eisbrecher and Oomph!!!, then A Life [Divided] will suit you.

Heart On Fire

Heart On Fire
(AFM Records - 2010)

With A Life [Divided] a Munich-based outfit steps into the limelight, they combine melancholy melodies, electro sounds and heavy guitar riffs. The single Heart On Fire is an appetizer for the upcoming album Passenger. Singer Jürgen Plangger some know him as guitarist of Eisbrecher. A Life [Divided] signed a deal with AFM Records and so this is just the beginning.
The title track starts with electro beats and distorted vocals, then the song explodes - a bit like an alternative metal tune - and heavy riffs join in. A melancholy electro rocker with a danceable beat and lots of emotions.

With Sounds Like A Melody they present a cover tune, they chose the Alphaville tune and revive the 80's electro pop with some heavy riffs. Not bad, but I prefer the original, even if it's a kitschy pop tune.
Last, but not least Hey You. Very heavy, almost NDH-like is the closer, but then they reduce the heaviness and add some electro beats. The refrain is infectious.
Actually I think another song of A Life [Divided] would be more interesting then a cover tune, but well... The single gives a good impression about what to expect from Passenger. Fans of bands like Eisbrecher, Oomph and similar artists should check out A Life [Divided].
