On stage: Warhead
Warhead & Vanize
- April, 10th 2000 - Essen (Germany), Zeche Carl
Monday night at Essen's Zeche Carl. Unfortunately just 60 fans showed up to have fun with Vanize and Warhead.
Peter Dirkschneider's band offered a solid show, in my opinion much better then the one I saw when they played with Testament last fall! Vanize still promote their album Bootlicker. Songs like R.I.P., Nighthunter or Bootlicker made this a metal party. Peter's elder brother Udo was there the watch the show like he always do, if he has the possibility. And Udo's presence seems to set even more energy free. Due to the fact that Peter's voice sounds similar to his brothers the power metal they play remind a little of Accept, but with songs like In The Eye Of The Storm they proof everybody wrong who think that they are a copycat of Accept! Well done, boys!
And then war began! The quartet entered the stage and set the house on fire! Singer Björn seems to be relieved and used the space he has these days to entertain the people. Great decision to give up guitar playing live and leave the guitar parts to the new one. Warhead's latest release Beyond Recall not just offers a great story, it also shows the different musical aspects of the four-piece. Including the encore the band played for almost 2 hours and presented their new album with tracks like Senseless, Blackout, The Trial and title track Beyond Recall. But also older stuff like Kill Your Neighbours, Good Part Of Each and Carrie White. I have heard that they shall be a great live band, but haven't expected to be blown away like that! Musically they grown during the last years and it's sad that only a few people seem the know this fantastic live act.
At the end of the show the fans and the band been exhausted, but happy! Hopefully the sympathetic four-piece will soon get a chance to rock in front of a bigger audience! Good luck!!!
