The German power metal band Warhead started back in 1993 and had been trough hardship since 2002. Now they release Hour Of Death, a live album which was recorded in 2000 after their first headliner club tour. It was the Beyond Recall tour and so a lot songs from that album made it onto the set list.
With the intro C17-X/05 they kick off and head straight into Senseless, a heavy fast rocker with a catchy hook. Just prior to that tour singer Björn Eilen decided to no longer play guitar live and so they got Florian Albers to fill in. A good decision, coz so he could concentrate on the vocals. The sound is heavy and powerful which supports their fast powerful tracks. With Flashback Of A Poor Man they present a tune off Perfect / Infect which starts slowly, but powerful. The vocals have an aggressive touch and the heavy groove forces them ahead. At The Trial they show the whole sound spectrum of Warhead - and it gets obvious that this is a real live recording as singer Björn Eilen sings a bit out of tune at a short passage. Peter Breitenbach's drums lead into Let Me Die. And into a track which kinda represents Warhead's sound quite good. Before they head into Listen! which leads into The Other Side, you can hear the audience shouting and so you get a live feeling.
I saw Warhead at the Beyond Recall tour and the CD can really give you an idea about Warhead live in 2000. And also is a kind of best-of off their first albums. Unfortunately the band then kinda disappeared, but now they are back! Even if its almost a new band, check them out! This album is presenting the old Warhead and is real fun to listen to!
