Here The Day Comes

Here The Day Comes
(Bakerteam Records - 2012)

Valkus Valkiria is the man behind the band Valkiria, but recently he extended the band with guitarist Mike, and guest drummer Giuseppe Orlando, instead of doing everything by himself. This 5th album will give a finger point about the success of a trio instead of a one-man band. The concept of the new album, Here The Day Comes, is 7 songs of approximately the same length, describing phases of the run of one day, Dawn, Sunrise etc. On the surface the music seem to go from one song to the other without too many changes, doom and gothic metal for all they are worth, but each song still has a unique character that gives a frightening and scary impression. Dawn is slow and doomy, but somehow has a bite within the song that is difficult to resist. Sunrise comes with a gothic tale of a scary rhythm like a metal engine that runs faster and faster in a stable fashion, one of the great songs on this album. Morning is again a mix of doom and gothic hard metal that has the intense fistful attitude to give something extra. Sunset moves the level to a mid-tempo affair with a good deal of aggression and creative gothic songwriting that gives the whole album a boost. Evening is back in the soft routine spiced with mysterious and evil atmosphere, slow but fantastic guitars from the new guy Mike, really an asset to Valkiria to include him.

An odd album, but special as it is, there is enough quality to satisfy listeners who likes a very special kind of gothic metal.
