The Dark Half

The Dark Half
(Pure Underground Records - 2011)

The German band has previously done some demos and now they are ready to release their debut full-length album called The Dark Half. It's 10 songs that has the label power metal written all over it, but it's not real power all of it. False Prophets, Ghost Story, Suicide Box, M.O.H.N. are all songs that could have been a lot better, but now remains as dreadful and boring. Then on the other hand we have Devils Don't Wear Plaid, a song with influence from Judas Priest, but is enormously slow in a way that sounds good, you have to listen for yourself to experience this sound. The Dark Half is okay powerful metal, but not more than that, nothing outstanding. You Gotta Do What You Gotta Do, here we have a more interesting song from Transnight, a song that really hits the good power level where they can be proud of what they are doing. The System has a thrash and fast quality of metal with a good and raw attitude. The funny and in fact best song here is Bite My Shiny Metal Ass, a power metal song with splendid humor and kick-ass spirit. That song is alone enough to recommend the album.
