The Devil's Blood is dividing the rock fans, some thing they are the next big thing while others find them extremely boring. The occult rock of SL and F isn't presenting anything new, but they are heart and soul and that's make their songs special.
The slowly lead you into The Thousandfold Epicentre with Unending Singularity, the 2+ minute long track is more an intro for the album, it builds up a special atmosphere and then they head into On The Wings Of Gloria. And with On The Wings Of Gloria they will enchant their followers. The song offers complex elements while the riffing is quite repetitive and on top of it F's expressive vocals. The 60's / 70's occult rock might not please everybody, but it's authentic. This time they enrich their sound with new elements - violins, organ, brass which support the atmospheric vocals and melodic guitars. The song Within The Charnel House Of Love make me think of a dark version of the music of Hair... It's probably the vocal style or the psychedelic sounds, but it doesn't matter, coz I simply enjoy the song. She is a very catchy one which features F's vocals, this time with female backing vocals. The title track The Thousandfold Epicentre is offering different sounds, but again SL's guitar and / or F's vocals will enchant you. They speed up for Fire Burning, a real rocker. The passage with vocals and piano at Everlasting Saturnalia is beautiful, then simply beautiful guitar melody replaces the piano and the vocals, but soon they are back. Towards the end the album it seems that the songs are more alike. Especially Feverdance seems to get lengthy, but right at the moment you consider to push the stop button the song changes, grabbing your attention. It's building up in a hypnotic way and culminates into a noisy guitar part. I culminates and get peppered up with some new sound elements. That's unexpected and surprising. And at the end of the song, the album you will appreciate it.
Well done! Definitely a step forward for The Devil's Blood, but still it will divide the rock fans. If you loved their previous releases, then this will be a real treat for you!
