Svartby (means 'black village' in Swedish language) is a Russian band, and they perform their songs in Swedish and English. The style is of fantasy aspects, sings of mushrooms and underwater scum. Their vocalist Gnofkes is growling in an extremely bad style, and the music goes from flute to accordion and guitars, but is performed strangely and in a childish manner. Svartby only have one song that can wrest free of the ridicolous level that the material represents, and that is the title song Elemental Tales where they play some serious black metal from the woods and swamps. The band has a motto stating: 'Svartcore till Death', but svartcore or not, their music is too childish to be taken serious.
