Suicide By My Side

Suicide By My Side
(Nuclear Blast - 2002)

This is Sinergy's 3rd release, the second they do with the all-Finnish line-up... Again singer Kimberly Goss and her mates recorded an album of 80's metal, but in the sound of the new millennium, it's heavy & aggressive, but with melodic vocals. The opening track I Spit On Your Grave is a typical song for the quintet. The touring made the band grow together and made them stronger. On Violated the dueling guitars of Alexi Laiho (also Children Of Bodom) and Roope Latvala (ex-Waltari) are equivalent to Kimberly's vocals and show the great talent of them. With Written In Stone they have a slower number, not really a ballad... But it shows a very emotional side of Kimberly Goss, but still heavy and rocking. The track Shadow Island is perhaps the most unusual one for Sinergy, starting with spoken words and partly Kimberly's vocals have a touch of this opera style we all know from Nightwish, but more powerful and emotional. The title track also starts with voice, this time it's like a radio play, then the music starts and a heavy rocking song sneaks into the listeners ear... Again the great guitar work of Alexi Laiho gives this song something special. Definitely a recommendation to all heavy and power metal fan!
