RockBuster
(Metal Heaven - 2010)

German's hard rocker's Shylock present their new album which is called RockBuster via Metal Heaven these days. Musically the band reminds me of bands like Bonfire and Casanova... And the opener Damn Good shows that again, partly Matthias Schenk's vocals make me think of Michael Voss and Claus Lessmann... The opener is easy to get into and soon you'll find yourself singing along. At Dawn the guitars have a modern metal edge, but beside that the song sounds quite familiar. Why they choose to cover Rumours I have no clue, but sounds like just another pop rock tune.... Luckily they do better with Sunshine vs. Rain, a balladesque rocker. Great guitar play. At Rose Of Cairo I expected more Arabic scales... A more Oriental sounding track, even if it has some Oriental influences its just spices up a hard rock tune. The balladesque rocker Strong is next in line, far from being a melancholy love song. At Somebody Else they show a different side... At the beginning the song reminds me of Billy Idol, but then they turn back to their own sound - going back and forth. Somehow this song won't fit here. Or is it just me? At bit heavier is We Are, and for me one of the best songs on RockBuster. Perhaps coz here Shylock don't sound like Bonfire to me... The closer is called Wrong Planet, again they give it a modern touch. Still a catchy rocker.
Well, fans of the previous releases won't be disappointed and fans of Bonfire and Casanova will like them too, even if they can't show something new. Okay, it's almost impossible these days to create something totally new, the guys deliver a more then decent album - again.
