The Turkish band Sabhankra was founded in 2001 in Istanbul and after releasing a demo in 2005 they released their debut album the following year. An EP followed in 2008 and now they have another EP, a 6-tracker, out. On Our Kingdom Shall Rise they show a mix of thrash and power metal which they spice up with other elements. The opener Alive shows this, but only shows one facet of their sound. Heavy riffs lead you into Our Kingdom Shall Rise where they add a dash of melodic death metal and the epic sound of Viking metal. At Farewell you get growls and this one is showing off their death metal influence best. The fast Tonight is even more extreme and shows their heavier side. Due to the keyboard it also has a black-ish touch... The closer is a fast guitar-driven power metal tune with growls.
Actually the Turkish are doing quite good, but it seems like they don't know what they really want to do... Or how to combine the different elements and create their own style... The EP is a free download, so no reason not to listen to it!
