Razorwyre were founded by Chris Calavrias and James Murray in 2008 and after completing the line-up they started playing shows in there hometown Wellington. In the beginning the band was called Gaywyre, but due to changing the sound they decided to rename to Razorwyre.
Musically the fivesome are based in 80's heavy metal, focusing on speed metal / US metal. For the opener Party Of Five they storm off, a speed metal tune with gang shouts. Fuck You Tonight is another thrash metal track. Again they offer razor-sharp riffs and gang shouts is what you get. The song has a slight punk vibe, while the high-pitched scream is more US metal-like.... Operation Market Garden offers some great guitar play. Suspiria is another up-tempo track, more speedy US metal... Some vocal parts show reminiscences to King Diamond, but don't expect too much falsetto! Battleshark reminds me of Helstar and Omen, the track is based on heavy riffing, melodic leads and a catchy hook.
The band from New Zealand sounds really 80's like... The production is powerful and balanced. Everybody who is still listening to bands like Omen and Helstar, who likes some fast and powerful songs, should check out Razorwyre.
