Karma
(InsideOut Music - 2001)

Shall drummers sing? A question you can't answer in general. Everybody who saw Spock's Beard live witnessed the vocal abilities of drummer Nick D'Virgilio and would answer this question positively.
Beside the drums Nick is playing guitar, bass and keyboards and so the idea to show his various talents on a CD wasn't far fetched. Musical support he got e.g. from guitarist Mike Keneally, bassist Bryan Beller (who worked e.g. with Steve Vai) and keyboard wizard Ryo Okumoto. The 11 songs show different sides of D'Virgilio. While the opener The river Is Wide has quite a touch of Spock's Beard the following tracks are offering a variety of rock songs. The album ends with an opus in three parts.
An album for the open-minded listener which shows that we shouldn't reduce a drummer to his instrument, there might be more...
