Uljas Uusi Maailma

Uljas Uusi Maailma
(Svart Records - 2012)

Laakso is known from his time in Chaosweaver, and the Finnish guitarist takes another step with this project. The bands name can be translated to Death Valley, and generally the music features the wild Finnish nature with original drums and singing in the native Finnish language where vocalist Kotamäki performs in a dark and guttural way. The debut album Uljas Uusi Maailma has 8 songs of Finnish metal and the most quality we get in Kuun Lapset where the hard guitars makes a sublime impression in a dark metal nightmare from the Finnish wilderness. Nostos And Algos is more brutal but yet rounded and controlled dark mysterious metal, great. Ikuini comes with speed and aggression, explosive guitar work and Kotamäki gives a fine example of making a song stronger with his unique way of pressing the limits by his voice. Kuolemanlaakso is an interesting band that will surely bring more nature metal in the coming years.
