It seems that these days more and more melodic metal bands see the light of day. In the 80's a lot of melodic metal bands came from Scandinavia and Human Race follow their tradition. The Gothenborg-based band released a mini album in 1997, but it was a Japan-only release. About a year later For The Sake Of Soul been released through Z Records, with Dirt Eater the band now got a real chance to conquer the melodic metal world. Songs like Ending Calling or Free Your Mind (it's not a cover of the En Vogue song! ;-) ) are melodic, but have a lot of power as well. The quartet offer an album which is old school. but they don't sound old-fashioned!
With One By One and Rainbow's Tarot Woman they have two cover versions on the album. Tarot Woman shows the talent of singer Stefano Marchesini who's vocals are a trademark of Human Race.
In difference to the tradition their lyrics don't just deal with the wine-women-love kinda themes, e.g. The Web.
Listen to: Free Your Mind, The Web and Don't Look Back.
