(Avenue Of Allies - 2012)

Fabri Kiareli is the driving force behind F.E.A.S.T., the album starts the title track and with some sirens, people chanting "We are the 99%!", then the band kicks in. The Italians present a blend of late 80's / early 90's hard rock and melodic heavy metal. Fabri Kiareli has a strong, slightly raspy voice which fits well to the guitar-driven tune. The follower Pleasure And Pain stars with vocals and so made me think of David Coverdale's Whitesnake, the bluesy hard rock of early Whitesnake. At Heart And Soul they cite Scorpions (Blackout era) for a moment, head into their own sound universe and later for a split second you can hear Savatage in the song. At Rock'n'Roll Man a dash of Tyketto was added, but it's always just bits and pieces. At Hard Rockin' Man they show their love for pub rock - and blend it with hard rock la Great White. At others you hear similarities to The Black Crowes and others, even if F.E.A.S.T. haven't found their own sound, they manage to combine their influences in their own way. With A Million Years they present a ballad, a slightly symphonic tune... Not the type which will give you goose bumps, but a decent one. They speed up for Dancing To The Rhythm, again the vocals remind me of David Coverdale, but musically it's more early 90's hard rock... The closer is Children Of Beslan is a melancholy tune which is lyrically based on the massacre in Beslan. The keyboard gives it a Savatage-sque element... As usual they change in the course of the tune.

Fans of late 80's / early 90's hard rock should check out F.E.A.S.T.! Okay, there are a lot references, but it usually last only for a moment, just enjoy the tune and forget about all the citations!
