Exxplorer... A name that reminds me the good old times, when I was a teenager a I bought the vinyl of Symphonies Of Steel!! Many years are gone from that day and I saw them at Keep It True festival in 2009 and I was happy to see that this band was in perfect shape. Now we have a new album after more than 15 years from a band that don't live in their past, but from a band that live their present times and think that good music is the cure of this sick music market where too many bands made records of low quality. Vengeance Rides An Angry Horse is their first CD with their new label Pure Steel Records, a good mixture of old and sometimes new sounds, a collection of new songs that finally put Exxplorer in high visibility in web / paper magazines and (I hope so!) in future live tour in Europe!!!!
Let's start talk about this album that starts with Gypsy, an excellent track, a mid-tempo perfectly done and the followers Glory Hunter and Chasing The High give us the possibility to hear new meets old Exxplorer sound!!! The Vengeance is an instrumental song, to my ears the intro for highest point of this album As The Crow Flies, a song that I like so much, since the first time I heard in a demo version..... This is a real killer track, a perfect example of what Exxplorer were, are and will be!!! S.N.O.E. is a tune that sounds in a modern way to my ears, but still a good tune!!! Valley Of Doom is an 'angry track', a killer mid-tempo, another good one in this CD!!! Spirits Of The Wind and Freight Train To Hell close this return of Exxplorer in the regular edition, but in the European version we get a bonus track called Return Of The Cycle.
We get a new nice album from Exxplorer and we're happy for that, the quality is high but we need more..... No more 15 years for another album!! Welcome back guys and see ya on tour very soon!!
