Caedium

Caedium
(Massacre Records - 2010)

Waldemar Sorychta, former guitarist of Despair, Voodoocult, Grip Inc. and producer of countless metal bands - like Moonspell, Lacuna Coil, Tiamat, Samael, etc. - is one of the guys who takes matters into his own hands. At Enemy Of The Sun he's writing songs, produces and plays guitar. Their debut album Shadows was released in 2007 and raised heckles. And it looks like the multi-talented man is doing the same with Caedium. The music is again a cool mix of thrash á la Grip Inc. and world / ethno music plus a dash of symphonic metal, but this time less bulky. Nowadays Enemy Of The Sun manages to melt the different elements into one - without lacking some progressive elements. The thrash passages are heavier, but you'll find slow, emotional passages as well. They change back and forth between the different sounds, but never get side-tracked - even if The Power Of Mankind contradicts this. The opener Another End Of The Rainbow steam rolls you and Ticket will hook you up immediately. I Am One switches between aggressive parts and acoustic passages. A modern track is Paradigm which will make you jump. The Golden Horizon is dedicated to Grip Inc. singer Gus Chambers who committed suicide. Waldemar Sorychta even used some lines Chambers jotted down announcing his suicide. Enemy Of The Sun is offering varying sounds, so every fan of modern metal should check it out. In a nutshell.... thrash meets System Of The Down meets world music!
