Emerald from Schweiz is doing some mean, evil and powerful heavy metal. Did I include everything.... On their 6th album Emerald has no intentions about slowing down anything, they their melodic power metal with an elegance that makes the tension boil. Rooted in the 80's and 90's sound of Iron Maiden there is a good vibration in the songs, and with Thomas Winkler's voice very similar to Bruce Dickinson it gives everything a kick in the Maiden direction. Face Of Evil attacks you right from the beginning with power metal in the Emerald style, genuine and solid. Another Universe is another of the good melodic power songs here, the universe is the one Emerald is in, and thanks a lot for that, because it gives the fans fantastic metal. A Past Never Born is a bit more technical, soft and sharp but it rises to a strength of sublime metal that so many true metal fans like. Harleking has a touch of folk metal in the rhythm and structure, but still with the power intact not to forget the great voice of Thomas Winkler that erases all doubt about the quality of this album. Just to continue to the next pearl we have Ancient Mystery which is filled with melodic hard super power metal, also a must have for heavy and power metal fans. Emerald has done it again.
