Many will know Dino Cazares for his time with Fear Factory, this is his latest project and he teamed up with 2 former Nile members, so you can expect something fast and extreme!
They kick off with Facebreaker, a fast track with death influences, growls, thrashy parts and clean vocals. Guitarist Dino Cazares created an interesting tune which seems to combine the different influences. Without the clean vocal parts and the almost catchy melody it would be a death metal track, but due to the other elements they enter the metalcore area. Great opener! Another fast one is The Battle Of J. Casey and this is more death'n'thrash... Reminds me a bit of some Swedish bands... Then again the clean vocals, but this time the music is still straight forward - with peppered up with some breaks. Then they present with Undivine Prophecies an instrumental.... A slightly symphonic intro which leaves you wondering, why its track no. 3. The title track is coming over you with hyper-fast riffs and staccato parts combined with mean growls - and when you think this is it, they use clean vocals again. At Redefine a slow part surprises the listener and on Anarchaos they use a refrain which you can easily shout out loud at a show... Again they surprise with twists and turns - and it becomes clear that you never know what Dino Cazares and his mates will present you next! When Darkness Embedded kicks off slowly and very melodic it seems out of place, but then they speed up and add some heavy staccato riffs. But still a very melodic tune for the foursome! It also shows that singer Travis Neal has a huge range! Actually I would like to hear more of this stuff! But I guess the majority won't... Towards the end of the album they leave the death metal elements behind and get a bit more modern and melodic.
Musically Divine Heresy go their own way which is somehow a walk on the razor's edge between death metal and metalcore... So, if you listen to both genres, this one is for you! If you are unsure about Divine Heresy, then check out their MySpace, but take in account that Facebreaker isn't the most representing track! Don't judge them by that song alone!

Ex-Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares just released his 2nd album of his new band - with a new singer. I guess most of you already heard that he might not be any longer the former Fear Factory guitarist, coz it looks like he'll be back with Fear Factory soon... Let's talk about Divine Heresy who had a head start with their debut album. After some arguing with Dino singer Tommy 'Vext' Cummings was fired, looks like it's not always easy to get along with Dino... The reason he had to leave Fear Factory was also some controversy. Now Travis Neal took over the microphone, and he fits well into the bands sound with his broad range. Neal is doing good at the melodic parts and is convincingly handling the deep notes. He can give you goose bumps! Divine Heresy's musical home is fast and brutal death metal peppered up with melody - and a dash Fear Factory. It's Dino's typical staccato riffing which was his trademark at Fear Factory's songs and his project Asesino. The staccato riffing is significant for his guitar play - and he hasn't changed. With catchy refrains and great melodies he can hook you up, so this album is interesting not just for extreme metal fans. People who have been disappointed by the last Fear Factory albums should check out this one - and the debut. Another trademark for their sound is the drumming of ex-Vital Remains drummer Tim Yeung. Just listen to the opener Facebreaker and you'll be convinced! One fast tune after another, firing riffs and creating some extreme tracks. Resume, Divine Heresy deliver a very strong 2nd album which won't get the attention it should have when Fear Factory and Dino reunite.
