Dhul-Qarnayn is a project from Bahrain. It was started in 2006 and already released some demos and EPs. Rising Eastern Legions was written by Hamid Avinar years ago, but never released. Tehranan band Emerna recorded and now Learza - the man behind Dhul-Quarnayn - has timed up with Hamid to re-record it. The track is a 10+ minute long instrumental which combines drone, ambient and ethno sounds. Due to it's repetitiveness its somehow hypnotic. The monotonous sounds are slowly creep into your mind. A kind of heavy elevator music... Music which stays in the background and isn't really demanding your attention which twists and turns. And so the 10+ minutes are over before you really get aware that time passed.
Well, it's really a matter of taste and definitely nothing I would listen to every day, but the song has something appealing... You can check out Dhul-Qarnayn at MySpace or you download the track via http://freemetalalbums.wordpress.com/ - and as it's for free, there is no reason not to listen to!
