Destruction keep celebrating their 25th band anniversary and release now a double CD The Curse Of The Antichrist - Live in Agony. It's been years since the German thrashers released a live album and so this double CD makes sense, at least more sense then a boring best-of CD. Destruction have more then enough songs - old and new - to choose from and so the CDs are rich with their thrash classics. But there are also some new songs on this nice package. Destruction took songs from every chapter of their career and so you will find classics like Mad Butcher, Eternal Bang, Total Disaster and Bestial Invasion as well as something from their more experimental era like Reject Emotions, Unsconcious Ruins / Live Without Sense and Cracked Brain. They also played songs which were done after Schmier's return. New neck breakers like The Butcher Strikes Back, Thrash Till Death, Metal Discharge and off their last studio album D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. you'll get the title track, The Seven Deadly Sins and The Alliance Of Hellhoundz. The songs were recorded in Tokyo and at Wacken Open-Air 2007, especially the fantastic atmosphere of the Wacken show is documented. The live album shows what Destruction are about and why they are one of the leading thrash bands in Germany. Destruction always been a great live act who set on fire every place they played. The 2 CDs deliver everything a Destruction fan can ask for and is also interesting for fans who just discovered them. Well done!!!!

A new Destruction live album is on the way. Do you need this double CD? Fans of the German thrashers Destruction will welcome the album, coz it has a lot of old hits, the ones which made them big, and some new tracks. Everybody who likes a certain variety might get bored by the repetitive thrash stuff. At the moment there are so many good thrash albums, so do you really need a Destruction live album?

Inventor Of Evil

The last release of Destruction was Metal Discharge and showed that they are not dead. But it hadn't the class of their early releases. On their latest album Inventor Of Evil they return to old school thrash metal - and the butcher is back! With live sound engineer Franky Winkelmann, producer V.O. Pulver and sound guru Peter Tägtgren's help they could bring the live energy into the studio and the powerful production make this one a killer. Especially guitarist Mike is slaughtering the listener with his killer riffs. Schmier's voice will still divide thrash metal fans, but he's not the only one who has to face this problem. But the trio has my respect to include untypical sound elements like acoustic parts or more modern sounds. Hard to pick some songs, just check out: Twist Of Fate and Seeds Of Hate. Or any other song. |
