Deride has been in the thrash metal world for many years, but it has not been the easiest task to get the right line-up in the band. Maybe it is solved now, as they release their new album The Void. Vocalist Per Helge Lande is doing growls in a stingy aggressive way, but still with a good deal of humor kicked into the songs. The problem for Deride seems that their songs are too simple and noisy, slow and dominated by Lande's growling vocals. The song Deathshake manages a little to improve the impression as it has an interesting melodic rhythm and something really happens to their thrash metal. Also the last song, Lesson Learned, raises the level with some meaningful thrash metal with good ideas in the songwriting. No doubt that Deride are a kick ass thrash band, but their songs need a little more work.
