Mega Trip

Mega Trip
(Crash & Burn Records - 2010)

Cyber Cross from Italy present Mega Trip, their second album. The band of former White Skull guitarist Nick Savio and singer Alex Bevivino offer 10 tracks of modern thrash metal, opening with the title track. Mega Trip is a brutal statement. Fast riffs and more melodic parts are offered, but it's Bevivino's vocals, his growls which make them sound brutal. On Aggressive Side they melt together different elements, this one is a wild ride! With Black Dynamite they offer a tune with a heavy groove, but they add some electro beats... A trip into another sound universe. With Murderous Rhymes they storm off, but then a break and some gothic metal like intermezzo - and back to murderous riff attacks and brutal vocals. And Noir is showing a different facet... The album is a sonic roller coaster ride. Noir reminds me of something, but I can't fathom it. And their journey through different genres continues with Fuck You Blind, a dark track with some gothic metal elements. At Red Black Music From My Hell they remind me a bit of early Kreator... But again it's just a facet... On Regression they change direction... beside melodic guitar passages and distorted vocals you get parts with fast drumming, heavy riffs and screams. At this one Nick Savio really shows off his skills! With the last 2 songs they stay on the chosen path.
The Italian band combines different influences, but even if the songs are quite different, it works well. But Mega Trip needs some open-minded listeners, if you are a purist of any kind, this melange won't be what you are looking for!
