Dark Skies Over Babylon

Dark Skies Over Babylon
(Mausoleum Records - 2013)

Code Of Silence is a new band which was founded by Paul Louge in 2011. The British band teamed up with the Brazilian singer Guy Monsanto.

They kick off with the intro Omertà, just to head into the riff-based rocker Bitter Sweet Paradise. The track has slow balladesque passages and riff-based parts, but even as keyboarder Scott McLean is always audible, the guitars are still prominent. Code Of Silence combine hard rock elements and melodic metal - with a dash of 80's - at least at the first songs. The track Sky is Falling Down reminds me a bit of PC69... Keyboard and a 'singing' guitar lead you into the title track Dark Skies Over Babylon, a long track with twists and turns. One of my favorites is Witches Of November, a melodic rocker with a catchy melody line. For Black Abyss they choose a different sonic road - at least a bit. This track is a bit more symphonic and reminds me slightly of Kamelot... Knights Of The Crimson Cross is an up-tempo rocker and so adds some variety to the album.

Melodic metal fans should check out Code Of Silence! Just listen to 2-3 songs to get an idea and if you like what you hear, buy it!
