St. Valentines Day Massacre

St. Valentines Day Massacre
(Wicked Cool Records - 2009)

With their 3rd album Saint Valentine's Massacre the Norwegian all-girl band Cocktail Slippers are out to conquer the rock world. They raise expectations, let's see, if they can match this high expectations. The girls entrenched themselves in a bunker in Oslo to record their new album. After 3 years without a sign of life it was a good decision to hide and focus on the recordings. The label which releases Saint Valentine's Massacre is owned by Little Steven and he gave them total control. The artwork suggests that you'll hear some punk rock... But they will surprise you! The opener is called Sentenced To Love which is some kind of pop rock - and they stick to the chosen path. If you expect them to explode when they present the title track, then you're wrong. Another pop tune. The ladies perform well, the production is quite okay, just the special something the album lacks. In their home country Norway they are quite successful, so they headlined the Teen Vogue Festival and have a song at the computer game Rock Band 2. Anyway, I guess they will just be Norway's #1 pop band - at least for now.
