The Rise Of Resistance

The Rise Of Resistance
(Massacre Records - 2013)

German outfit Circle Of Silence is back with a new album, it's called The Rise Of Resistance. They quintet kicks off with Blood Of Enemies, a power metal track with catchy vocal lines, heavy riffs and without sweet keyboard melodies and so they are close to bands like Iced Earth and Brainstorm. Additionally singer Niklas Keim varies and sometimes uses modern metal like shouts. Eyes Of Anarchy offers thrashy riffs and shouts next to hymnic parts. At the thrashy An Oncoming Storm you can detect some Hetfield-like phrasing, but only for a moment. A song like We Rise sounds modern and shows another facet of Circle Of Silence. One of my favorites is The Final Chapter as it combines the different elements, offers tempi changes and it's catchy. The closer The Architect Of Immortality starts slowly and very melodic, but then goes full force. Partly they remind me of Nevermore without the craziness of Warrel Dane... It's a sonic roller coaster ride, but not a fast one! And it has a dark edge... Later they speed up and storm off in an Iced Earth-like way. Personally I like this side of Circle Of Silence a lot and I hope to hear more songs like this one!

Fans of power metal who like it a bit thrashy should check out the new Circle Of Silence.

One Moment Of Hate (single)

One Moment Of Hate (single)
(Massacre Records - 2013)

German power metal outfit Circle Of Silence is ready to unleash their third studio album The Rise Of Resistance in May. Meanwhile they release a 2-track digital single as an appetizer. One Moment Of Hate is a thrashy power metal tune with a catchy hook. Singer Niklas Keim has a powerful voice which stays on top of Tobias Pfahl and Christian Sommerfeld's guitars. Fans of Brainstorm should dig Circle Of Silence....
The other track is Take Your Life, a track with thrashy riffs but also with a dash of groove metal... The track invites you to sing along and band your head. A nice appetizer for the upcoming album, so if you like power metal, check out the digital single!

The Blackened Halo

The Blackened Halo
(Massacre Records - 2011)

A good power metal band from Germany are now they are ready with their new album, their 3rd, after 2 albums that they released on their own. Now this time it's Massacre Records who's behind the distribution of this new CD: The Blackened Halo. As always they go full speed ahead with a combination of hard rock and melodic power metal. They have touches of Judas Priest and Nirvana in their songs, and generally they keep the music very simple, it's concentrated on great overwhelming drumming, and the ripping terror force of vocalist Nick Keim. No bad moments at all in this CD, where the best material is: 21 Grams, this songs has terrific melodies and heavy power onslaughts the speakers. Take Your Life is about taking the life seriously and do something for yourself, and it gives the perfect description of the Circle Of Silence way of doing things. Reflections is more in the hard rock department, but proofs the quality this entire album stands for. Totally we get 11 very good songs way above average level.
