Tempus Apocalypsis

Tempus Apocalypsis
(Witchinghour Productions - 2012)

Polish black metal outfit Besatt started about 20 years ago and Tempus Apocalypsis is their 8th studio album, and since their 2010 full-length Demonicon they released a live album and some compilations. To be honest I never heard of Besatt in the past, but probably it's just because I'm not following the underground...

They kick off with Seals Of Hate, a fast riff-based tune and it surprises me a bit that the trio delivers such a massive sound. Additionally I can state that the sound is quite good, if you have problems with the thin sound of so many black metal releases, check out this one!

They storm through 9 tracks, all up-tempo but sometimes spiced up with some mid-paced parts and atmospheric elements. At Fallen the mid-tempo parts give the song a different edge. At other ones they work with breaks and even add some growls and Gregorian chant-like parts at Seven Great Plagues. Personally I would love to get more speed changes, breaks... Everything which adds some variety, like the female vocals at Queen Babylon. But that's me...

It's a decent black metal album which should be a treat for fans of this style. Especially if you aren't a fan of the underground sound. Give the Polish a chance and check out Tempus Apocalypsis!
