By Means Of Upheaval

By Means Of Upheaval
(Relapse Records - 2003)

The album starts with some spoken words before an inferno of extreme metal, hardcore comes over the listener. Twenty two (!) anger-inspired tracks torment the listeners ear-drum. All ferocious and relentless grind. The band was founded in 1994 in the Bay Area and soon become known in the hardcore scene for their explosive and aggressive sound. The violent sound and rebellious sound is completed by socio-critical lyrics which show frustration and anger. Usually fast, hard-hitting, straight into your face HC is what you get, but some breaks give the listener a short moment to relax. Musically the US-Americans also include thrash elements and a punk vibe which makes this album interesting for HC, metal and partly punk fans. Again and again there are spoken word parts which are really interesting, but still this uncompromising sound isn't mass compatible and so I can just recommend to listen to a few tracks before you buy this album. If you already know then, then I guess you'll like this one as much as the predecessors.
