Masterful Mystery Tour

Masterful Mystery Tour
(Oglio Records - 2009)

Beatallica's name as well as their songs are mash-ups of Beatles and Metallica (songs). The band started back in 2001 as a project and their first EP was recorded for the annual Milwaukee Spoof Fest. But it was David Dixon who set up a website, named the band and published songs online. That was the basis for everything what happened ever since. The foursome was aware of legal problems and so stick to free downloads. When Sony Records forced them to take down the website and sent them a cease-and-desist note - it was all about copyright violation. Anyway, the Beatalllibangers signed petitions and with support of Metallica they sorted out things with Sony.
Now they present Masterful Mystery Tour, their 2nd full-length album which is properly released by a label. They kick of with The Battery Of Jaymz And Yoko - and in their unique way they create something new out of a Beatles song and Metallica track. Something heavy and melodic. And the fun ride begins! One of the highlights is And I'm Evil, based on the Diamond Head classic. The following Everybody's Got A Ticket To Ride Except For Me And My Lightning is fun too! The opening of The Thing That Should Not Let it Be is truly the Beatles, just the lyrics been changed and you get the typical Hetfield vocals. After a dozen mash-ups the comedy rockers offer a cover version of a J.B.O. song - Ein guter Tag zum Sterben. German speaking people will find it even funnier due to the heavily accented vocals.
A cool album which is fun to listen to, even if you don't spent attention to the lyrics - but they are worth it! So, listen to Beatallica's Masterful Mystery Tour and see them live... Perhaps when they open up for J.B.O. ...
