With Metaphor Bangalore Choir present their 3rd album, the album which in the past was the make-it-or-break-it album. The line-up is the same, just on drums there has been a change. The new guy is Rene Letters.
They kick off with the bluesy rocker All The Damage Done which shines through the guitar play of Curt Mitchell and Andy Susemihl as well as through David Reece's voice. For Trojan Horse they slow down a bit and add a dash of Southern rock. Live this one will be a highlight of their shows! The up-tempo rocker Silhouettes On The Shade has an 80's feel due to the backings. Again it's the guitar play and Reece's vocals which take you in, but personally I think the title track Metaphor is a lot stronger. Perhaps because it's bluesy and so fits even better to the guitar style and vocals... Another highlight is Don't Act Surprised, a heavy rocker with heavy riffs and a catchy hookline. Be warned and don't act surprised when you hear Never Face Ole Joe Alone, coz it's a cool country rock tune. Not as heavy as Pride & Glory tunes, but quite cool!
Then they are back to a mix of up- and mid-tempo rockers, some with big backings and all with excellent guitar play. And with Fools Gold you get a power ballad, but they speed up for the closer Always Be My Angel. Another great one.
Some might say, Bangalore Choir deliver an album which is quite like the predecessors, but I say they stick to their guns! And if you get good songs, excellent guitar play and great vocals, what more can you ask for? Enjoy!
