Bad Habit is a melodic rock band from Sweden which was founded in 1987 and this is their 10th album. Most AOR and hard rock fans will know them, so I won't talk about their past.
Their new album Atmosphere kicks off with a countdown, some 80's keyboards and then becomes a heavy, riff-based rocker called In The Heat Of The Night. Obviously fans of the 80's albums of Treat, Winger and Europe as well as Skagarack and Fate will fall for this tune. A balladesque rocker called Words Are Not Enough is next in line. With Every Time You Cry another balladesque rocker is offered, but this one is more intense and memorable.
With Angel Of Mine they present a power ballad which fans of Bad English and Hardline should dig. The track is guitar-driven, but has some keyboard embedded and on top of it, like the icing on a cake, Bax Fehling's vocals. Another highlight is Only Time Will Tell, a heavy rocker with a great hook line. Back in the days it would have been a smash hit!
Atmosphere has no fillers, but not every track is a hit. A very good album which is enjoyable from start to end. For some it might be a bit too 80's sounding, but in my opinion the Swedish manage well to add something unique to the 80's sound and also give the songs freshness. Well done!
